Guy McCreery - Them Changes

A young man got on a bus at a bus terminus. He had briefly studied the departures board but didn’t recognise any of the destinations or many of the towns listed on the routes. This wasn’t a cause for concern to him. He walked out of the terminus building and started walking towards the buses waiting to depart. Having walked up and down the bus stands studying the buses, he got on a bus with only a few passengers yet on board and went and found the seat that beckoned to him. As the bus pulled out of the bus station he had no idea where it was heading.

After some time on the bus; he wasn’t sure if it was hours or days or even years, his attention was attracted to the landscape and the golden light outside. While he was being mesmerized by the rhythm created by the light dancing on the windows together with the sound of the wheels on the road, the bus slowed and stopped, and the bus driver stood up and announced that if anyone needed to stop for a minute now was the time. The young man moved to get up but then hesitated, considering if he needed to get off or had simply felt the urge for a change of scene. He then got up and moved down the bus and down the steps, jumping off the last step onto the dry red soil. As he did so, the light and the warmth of the sun hit him full in the face.

He brought his hand up to his forehead to shade his eyes so he could see where he was. He was standing at a crossroads. Up until recently he had been told where to go and what to do more than he ever had a say in the matter. Now he was able to go wherever he wanted and do whatever he wanted; a set of circumstances he had increasingly over the years often imagined and yearned for. Yet, having recently arrived at this point in his life, not having a firm idea of either had caught him by surprise and he had panicked. But now the feeling of unease was momentarily broken by his awareness of the warmth of the sun on his face, before he realised that he could not stand at the crossroads with the sun in his eyes forever. The reverie had passed. But the memory of the lucidity and equanimity that had come from the sun on his face in that moment would return often throughout his life. It would also leave him with a powerful feeling that at every crossroads where he is uncertain, he should follow the sun.

Send Me Up The Mountain To Die

I could Walk, I could Run
Touch The Wind, Feel The Sun
Send Me Up The Mountain To Die

I could Sing, I could Dance
Lose myself in a trance
Send Me Up The Mountain To Die
Send Me Up The Mountain To Die

That’s my wish. That’s my want. Don’t deny it

I could laugh, I could cry
Tears of joy, Now run dry
So Send Me Up The Mountain To Die

I can’t think, Hardly feel
Let Me Go, This Is Real
So Send Me Up The Mountain To Die
Send Me Up The Mountain To Die

My Running Days are over.
My Walking Days are done.
I can run in my mind
But nothing comes close to the life I had.
My time has come and that’s not strange.

It’s my wish. Should be my right.
It’s the one thing I desire.
Let me go. Send me off. Feel my pain. Feel my love.

I’m going on into the great beyond.

I can’t eat, I can’t sleep
I can’t fight, Hardly weep
Send Me Up The Mountain To Die

I could be, Could belong
Could connect, I felt strong
Now I’m down, nearly out
Got no heart, got no song.

So Send Me Up The Mountain To Die.
So Send Me Up The Mountain To Die
So Send Me Up The Mountain To Die

When Someone Says Your Name

Love.. has got me on the run again.
Every time I close my eyes
She’s swaying down the quay.

I can see the clouds in your eyes
And the sun in your hair.
I can taste the salt on your lips
It’s as if you’re really here.

Love.. has got me on my knees again.
Everytime I close my eyes
She’s slipping off her dress.

I can see the moon in your eyes
And the stars in your hair.
I can feel the softness of your skin
It’s as if you’re really here.

Every time I think of you
It makes me wonder why.
We thought it could last forever
But then we said Goodbye

I could be almost anywhere
A million miles away.
Every time I miss a beat

When someone says your name.

Take Me As I Am

I know my jeans are dirty
And I misbehave.
I know my walls are peeling
Heading for an early grave.

But my aim’s a little higher.
I’m shooting at the stars.
I thought you understood that.
You even kissed my scars.

I’ve taken chances I know.
I’ve lived my life, that’s true.
But I never thought it would
Lead to losing you.

I’ve got to listen to my heart
Make you understand
That’s why you love me, Honey
Take me as I am.

Of all the things I’ve done
And some I’ve yet to do.
Of the crazy things I’ve done
I fell in love with you.

You’ve got it
I want it.
Locked in a lovers’ tryst.
I’ve got it
You want it.
I feel it in your kiss.

What’s happened to your sense of danger?
What’s happened to your sense of fun?
You won’t get that thrilling feeling
Not just with anyone.

Burning My Bridges Again

I’m Burning My Bridges Again.
I’m Burning My Bridges Again
I’m Burning My Bridges Again.
I’m Burning My Bridges Again

I… I don’t know why.
I don’t why. I don’t know why
But I… see eye to eye. I see eye to eye.
I see eye to eye….

Perhaps that’s why…
I’m Burning My Bridges Again.
I’m Burning My Bridges Again
I’m Burning My Bridges Again.
I’m Burning My Bridges Again

What I’m saying I know you can understand it
What I’m saying I know you all understand it.
You can understand it

What I’m feeling, I know everyone can feel it.
What I’m feeling, I know everyone can feel it.
Everyone can feel it

I’m burning my bridges again
I’m burning my bridges again
I’m burning my bridges again

I’m using my head. I’m following my heart.
I’m using my head. I’m following my heart.

Head or my heart, head or my heart, head or my heart..
What’s this head or my heart? It’s all me.
It’s all me. I am one being.
I am… one. Indivisible. Using my head
Following my heart
Guided by spirit.

Am I burning my bridges again?
Am I burning my bridges again?

I don’t know what I was thinking
I don’t know how it came to this.
I don’t know what I was thinking
I don’t know how it came to this

But I do… oh I do. It was you. It was me. You and Me.
Us… Us.

..and I don’t regret it

Crazy She Calls Me

Crazy. Crazy, she calls me.

We’re out.
Out on a night.
To places
Shimmering bright.

With faces
All sweetness and light.
In a world
Where all the wrong things
Are alright.

And the treasure’s nowhere
Nowhere in sight.

Crazy. Crazy, she calls me.

We’re flying
Ever so fast
I know
So, don’t say a word

Tomorrow
Maybe my last
In a world
Where all the wrong things
Are alright.

And the treasure’s nowhere
Nowhere in sight.

Sulky Girl

I hear the steps of a woman
And the steps of a man
She’s trying to keep up
Just as fast as she can.

There’s a crack in the sidewalk
Where she catches her heel.
I say, “Come on pretty girl
You know it’s no big deal”.

Sulky Girl, you know it.
Sulky Girl, that’s right.

When the lights go out
In the City Hall
You’re the one they need
You’re the one they call.

There’s a stain on the carpet
When the deal falls flat.
I say, “Come on pretty girl
There’s more to life than that”.

Sulky Girl, what are you going to do about it?
Sulky Girl, what are going to do?

Well, there’s a note on the table
When You walk in the door.
It’s says, “I’ve gone to the beach,
I’ll be back at four”.

You say you know what’s right
You say you know what’s best.
You better wise up, Sonny
She’s not like the rest.

She’s a sulky girl
You know it.
She’s a sulky girl
That’s right.

Come on, Sulky Girl
You know it.
Come on, Sulky Girl
That’s right.

Why Does It Matter

Why does it matter?
Why should I care?

It doesn’t make sense to me
Why should I feel so bad?

I’m only trying to bring good things into the world.

Why does it matter?
Why should I care?

It doesn’t make any sense to me
Why should I feel so bad?

What are we here for? To bring into the world?
My intentions are only good

Nothing I can say changes people’s minds
My honesty
My integrity
Seems to count for nothing

Why does it matter?
Why should I care?

It doesn’t make sense to me
Why should I feel so bad?

Why are we here?
I hear so many people ask
We have to make meaning for ourselves.

Stick together
Help each other
Teach each other
Reach each other
Touch each other
Look out for each other
Look into yourself to find the answer.
It’s waiting for you.

Consider your life
What makes you happy?
What makes sense to you makes sense

Love is the answer to all the questions.

Play Into My Hands

Be my honey, baby Feel the need in me.
Such a sweet surrender
You’ve got me on my knees.
Woman, my heart is beating fast
I want you here for a love that’s going to last.
Be my honey baby Feel the need in me.

For the time is right Any day or night
For sweet delight And revelry.
Sweet loving girl Most respectfully
Give your love to me.

And play into my hands.

You’re causing a stir Around the neighbourhood
I’ve seen you looking And I wish you would
Play into my hands.

Buttercup. Cool green meadow
Or a city street on fire.
Kissing in the shadows
If this is love
Take me higher and higher.

For the time is right Any day or night
For sweet delight And revelry.
Sweet loving girl Most respectfully
Give your love to me.

And play into my hands.

When she walks in the room
Let the party begin.
I’ve got to satisfy the mood she’s in.
Play into my hands.

In your dreams I’ll make you feel
I’m climbing up You’re stairs, for real.
Play into my hands.

Be my honey, baby Feel the need in me.
Such a sweet surrender
You’ve got me on my knees.
Woman, my heart is beating fast
I want you here for a love that’s going to last.
Be my honey baby Feel the need in me.

Hold Me Close

Hold me close
Just in case
I should slip away.

Come on hold me tight
Or I’ll roam in the night

Hold me close
Just in case I could slip away

Hush, now baby don’t you cry
Don’t ask me now for reasons why
Cherish every moment
It will soon be yesterday.

Hold me close
Just in case I should slip away.

Kiss me slowly
Kiss me quick
Don’t keep me waiting
Don’t you miss a trick.

Words I’ve said today
Should never come as a surprise
Don’t criticise
Me now.

Just hold me close
Just in case I should slip away.

Sailing on a ship across a blue sea.
Travelling on a train to destinations
Full of mystery.

Follow every sunset
Chasing every sunset to ground.
Please wait my love
I’ll come around.

Just hold me close
Just in case
I should slip away.
